I remember pregnancy as being the one time in my life where it was perfectly acceptable to pig out. Extra plates at the buffet, ice cream, and all the carbs you can eat! At least, it was that way for the first few months of my pregnancies. All those sweets and treats were out the window after my glucose test. Finding out that I had gestational diabetes wasn’t easy. I was placed on a modified diet, had to test my blood sugar levels four times a day, and had to inject myself with insulin three times a day. While I had to watch what I ate, I still packed on a few pounds.
Getting back into shape after a baby is no easy task. From the covers of magazines, you’d think losing your baby weight was as easy as sneezing. It’s like the celebs are teasing us–“Look at me! I had my baby on Monday and I’m skinnier than ever!”
While the Hollywood moms have their nannies, personal trainers and glam squad, it’s up to us regular mamas to get ourselves to a size we feel comfortable with. For the everyday mom, the “snapback” can be a challenge.
