Haughty. Tempermental. Demanding. The word “diva” hardly ever means warm and nurturing, but one mom is helping to change our idea of DIVAtude.
Divas With A Purpose is a source of inspiration and motivation for women. Founder Michelle encourages women to become driven, inspired, and victorious and create a plan of action to live their best lives. Passionate about helping women and children, Michelle hosts the “Celebration of Divatude” each June in her hometown of Columbia SC to celebrate and encourage self-love, entrepreneurship, and collaboration among women. She’s also a founding member of #VoicesForOurSons, an online collaboration for mothers of tween and teen boys of color.
PhenomeMOMS are the mothers who go above and beyond for their families every day. They’re the moms with heart–the ones who want the best for their children, and are trying their hardest to give it to them. Each PhenomeMOM is a woman who is committed to doing her very best in her personal life and the lives of her family. I’m honored to bring you their stories–the ones that make you laugh, cry, and think about your own motherhood.
Michelle encourages and helps women to find their calling, but that’s not what makes her a PhenomeMOM. Read more about what makes Michelle a phenomenal mother below.
When did you become a mom?
August 2001.
How has motherhood changed you?
I battled with depression for years. My children have literally saved my life. Knowing these little beings are dependent on me motivates and encourages me on a daily basis. I’ve learned to ask for help when I need it and just be – enjoying the wonderful (and interesting…LOL) moments that come along with motherhood.
What do you love most about being a mom?
Each my children are very distinct within their personalities – I love having a unique bond with each of them and being able to enjoy life through their eyes (a teen, 2nd grader and 4 year old) and perspectives. I learn something from them all on a regular basis.
